Privacy Policy

Hunch: Gut Journal helps you log meals, symptoms, and possible FODMAP-related patterns. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used.

Information you provide

• Account information, such as email address or Sign in with Apple identifiers.
• Meal entries, symptom entries, notes, dates, times, and app preferences.
• Meal photos or selected library images when you choose to attach them.
• Voice input only when you choose to dictate a meal or symptom.
• Support messages you send by email.

How Hunch uses information

• To save and show your journal, meal details, symptoms, statistics, and patterns.
• To classify meals for gut-relevant traits such as FODMAP source, dairy, gluten, preparation clues, and confidence.
• To answer Ask questions using your own journal data and user-scoped tools.
• To operate subscriptions, usage limits, account authentication, and customer support.
• To maintain security, debug issues, and prevent abuse.

AI processing

Hunch uses AI services to classify meal photos or descriptions and to answer questions about your own journal. The app sends only the content needed for the requested AI feature, such as the selected photo, meal description, symptom context, or relevant journal excerpts.

AI answers are generated from your data and may be imperfect. Hunch is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis or treatment.

Service providers

Hunch may use infrastructure, authentication, subscription, analytics-free app operations, and AI providers to run the service. These providers process data only as needed to provide Hunch features, security, billing, and support.

Payments

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. Hunch receives subscription status information needed to unlock paid features, but does not receive your full Apple payment card details.

Data sharing

Hunch does not sell your personal data and does not use third-party advertising tracking. Your journal is scoped to your authenticated account. Support data is shared only as needed to answer your request, operate the service, comply with law, or protect the service.

Retention

Journal and account data are kept while your account is active or as needed to operate the service. Backups and security logs may persist for a limited time after deletion requests. You can request deletion from the privacy choices page.

Your choices

• You can choose not to add photos, notes, or voice input.
• You can manage app permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can request access, correction, export, or deletion at Privacy choices.
• You can manage subscriptions through your Apple account.

Children

Hunch is not intended for children under 13. Do not use Hunch if you are not old enough to consent to digital services in your country or region.
